Polymer Dispersed Liquid Crystal (PDLC), is a thick polymer film smart material resembling a thick sheet of car tint, that transitions between opaque to clear when electricity is applied.

PDLC film is naturally in the "OFF" state. When a switch allows low-voltage electric current to energize the film, the liquid crystals align with the electric field, allowing light to pass making it clear.

PDLC is fairly simple. Only an electrical outlet, a low-Voltage transformer, a switch or remote for activation and low voltage wiring is all that is needed. It's a great alternative to typical blinds.
